This dish really “sticks to your ribs”. It’s thick & sweet. Although it’s not really a personal favorite, it’s great when camping out and kids love it. My girls will attest to that and declared it a “family favorite” – and family is everything, so, here it is.

Ingredients:
- ¼ cup Lars’s Barbecue Sauce
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 4 Tbs. white sugar
- 2 Tbs. molasses
- 2 Tbs. Lars’s Champagne Mustard
- 1 Tbs. salt
- 1 tsp. pepper
- 1 tsp. chili powder
- 32-ounce can baked beans (drained)
- 1 Tbs. Olive oil
- ½ pound bacon (cut into bite-sized pieces)
- 1 pound ground chuck
- 1 large yellow or red onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
Procedure:
- In a large bowl, thoroughly blend barbecue sauce, sugars, molasses, mustard, pepper, salt and chili powder.
- Add beans to bowl and mix well. Set aside.
- Pre-heat oven at 350°
- In a skillet, on medium heat add oil and saute bacon till almost browned (about 15 minutes)
- Drain bacon fat. Retain 2 tbs. fat in skillet.
- Reduce heat to medium low. Add ground chuck, onion & garlic. Saute until meat has browned. (about 10 minutes)
- Reduce heat to low. Add beans mixture to skillet with meat mixture. Saute for 3 minutes.
- Transfer meat & bean mixture to a casserole dish and bake at 350°F for 40 minutes, or until thickened.
